I'm not working as hard.  Less of an incline on the treadmill.  I'm not letting my heart rate get over 150 any more.  I was working a lot harder than that before.  I think I was wearing myself to thin.

My calves started hurting a bit yesterday, so today I didn't do the running at the end.  Then my son had to go to the bathroom, I had to stop early.

I did the same workout as yesterday, but I was interrupted several times by my son.  My total workout time was more like 70min.  He was so good yesterday.  Not sure what was wrong with him this morning.

New Routine

I'm incline-walking for about 40/45min, jogging til the full 60, then the machine goes into an automatic cool down.  I'll increase the jogging time by a min or so each week.  I don't think I have compartment syndrome, I'm just really bad at overdoing it I think.  I am stretching when I'm done now.  I know that helps a lot. :)

Driven Sports Craze

So someone my husband works with is raving about this Craze stuff from Driven Sports.  I was curious so we bought some.  I took half a dose the other day, in the afternoon, it seemed to make me sleepy.  Could be that I was just sitting on my butt, although some other energy drinks make me sleepy as well.  I took a full dose this morning about an hour before heading out to the gym.  It seemed to help.  I feel great now.  A little jittery, but no rapid heart rate.

My run was good.  My calves don't hurt.  I did the treadmill at a 0% incline.  My calf pain really started when I started running outside or on the treadmill with an incline.  So back to square one we go.  Lots of stretching afterwards, and I'll continue to stretch all day.  I can't go to the gym tomorrow morning, I'm taking our dog to the vet, but I may be able to go out tomorrow after dinner.  I know, I know, I'm supposed to be taking it easy.  And I did.  I took a full 8 days off.  I didn't go super fast today, kept it slow, had a 10min walking warm up.

Trip to the doctor

I made an appt for my calf pain.  He did some poking and prodding and said that it might be compartment syndrome. Compartment syndrome is a serious condition that involves increased pressure in a muscle compartment. It can lead to muscle and nerve damage and problems with blood flow.  He started me on some NSAIDs, told me to halve my distance, warm up longer, stretch more and only go 2-3x a week instead of 5 like I should be.  So far I haven't gone since Saturday and I'm still in pain.  He's hoping that I'm just over doing it and need to cut back and add mileage much slower.  If I'm not feeling better in 2 weeks I have to make another appt for a compartment syndrome test.  I'm sad today.  I want to run and I've been told I can't.  BLAH!!!
