Calf pain is murder

I was supposed to go 6 miles, but my calves were really murdering me.  It was worse when I'd try walking.  I did a bit of research when I got home.  I need compression socks.  I have a pair that I wore when I was pregnant with my son (who's now 3).  I found them and put them on after my shower.  I started feeling better right away.  To buy super-duper athletic compression socks is crazy expensive; I think anyway.  So I'm going to go back to Walgreens and get the diabetic ones, which is what I currently have.

Second Group Run

I finally made it to another group run.  I finished last.  I still ran the whole 4 miles.  Never stopped to walk.  Although I did have to stop at the lights twice, for a total of about 3 min.  I hate crossing against the light.  Tomorrow is supposed to be a day of rest, but I'm going to the gym for my incline-walking.  Friday I have to do 3 miles, then Saturday is 6.  I may just die on Saturday!  Group run on Saturdays starts at 7:30 on the other end of town.  I'll have to leave the house at 7.  I'm not usually even up that early!  I really want to go though.  Running 6 miles is so much harder by yourself.

I only ran for 45 min.  I was supposed to do 5 miles worth of fartleks, but I think I was going to fast during the sprints.  Oops.  I may try for another few miles tonight again.  I need to train myself to go slower so I can go the distance.

I got really sick for a while.  Bronchitis, sinus infection and an ear infection.  Once I was on the mend my kids got sick.  They're back at school and I'm back in the gym.  YAY.  Double work out today, but I still feel fantastic.  We'll see how fantastic I feel in the morning.

I got the wrong protein powder.  I usually get the whey, but I accidentally grabbed soy.  Not as much protein and a lot more carbs.  It's a small canister, so it will go quickly.  I'll pay more attention next time.

I've just realized that I've forgotten to get my December totals.  Wow, it has been a rough month.

I did a loop around my parents' house.  VERY hilly!  I'm supposed to go 3 miles today, but my sinuses are going to explode.  It's early yet.  Not even 8am, and below freezing.  I may feel better by the time it warms up enough.

Cut short

I was interrupted 4 times by my son.  I'm not sure how accurate my mileage is.  He's 3.  I used to go with my 5 year old daughter as well, but she just started morning preschool.  She would distract him for me.  He doesn't know how to play on his own!  Plus we're just out of the habit of going to the gym.  He'll get better, I'm sure.  Well, I hope anyway!

Group Run

I signed up for group training at a local shoe store.  When I went in to get my new shoes (yes I finally got them!) they had this thing going.  Here's the link: http://gorunwichita.com/start2finish/ We had our first group run today.  They will be every Wednesday and Saturday.  I will miss this Saturday, as I'm going out of town, but my run today was amazing!  Just under 2 miles in 20-ish min.  My heart rate monitor said my average heart rate was 169.  I am very proud of that.  It was fun running with other people.  I've never gone on a group run before.  I can't wait for another!
